The Lion King (1994)

Synopsis: A lion cub is tricked into thinking he is responsible for his father's death by an evil uncle.
Appraisal: First, the good things: the songs! Oh, and most secondary characters are interesting, visually at least. The stampede sequence is also very good. The not-so-good things: the plotline. Why? Because it is ideologically out of tune with my personal convictions and with modern thought in general. How's that? Well, it is basically a monarchist movie. Does that matter, being a cartoon? Well, I think it does. It affects the empathy we feel for the characters. Other not-so-good things: shall I mention the too-smart-for-its-own-good dialogue? The net result is positive, but only by a small margin.
