The Limey (1999)

Synopsis: Englishman comes to L.A. to avenge the death of his daughter.

Appraisal: This film is a fortunate combination of well thought out elements into a satisfying whole. From the hypnotizing score to the quirky editing, not forgetting the remarkable lead performance, everything contributes to set a distinctive tone to the movie. The essence of the film distances itself from the ordinary revenge film, in ways that I can't discuss in depth without disclosing elements of the plot. What I can say is that the theme of guilt is at the center of the film.
