Troy (2004)

Synopsis: Trojan prince Paris takes Greek princess Helen to Troy. Menelaus, her husband, goes to his brother, king Agamemnon, asking him to join him in a war against Troy. Agamemnon uses the incident as an excuse for a war he has long wanted for his own political reasons. The Greek army has an enormous asset in Achilles, an extremely skilled fighter who nevertheless despises Agamemnon as a ruler. A possible match for Achilles on the Trojan side is Hector, Paris's brother.
This film was "inspired" by Homer's Iliad, a narrative poem dating from between the 9th and the 6th centuries B.C..

Appraisal: Ridiculous "epic" with the psychology and the dialogue style of a soap opera. With the sound turned off (and the occasional help of the fast forward button) this probably becomes acceptable as visual entertainment.
