Iklimler (2006)

English titles: Climates; Seasons; The Climate.

Synopsis [heavy spoilers]: Isa, an architecture professor, is on vacation with his girlfriend Bahar. She is behaving strangely lately, very withdrawn; this appears to be related to his recent betrayal with Serap. He can't stand Bahar's behavior anymore and breaks up with her. He goes on an affair with Serap, even though she is already on a steady relationship with another man. Isa misses Bahar and travels east to where she is working (she is a TV art director). He wants her back but she says it is too late. Later, she looks him up at the hotel he is staying at, and spends the night with him without physical contact; his response to her is colder than she probably expected. In the morning he says he has to catch the plane back to Istanbul. It is definitely over between them.

Appraisal: Interesting psychological drama, with a very realistic proposition. I think the film succeeds partially -- the characters have a true feel to them, but not all scenes were fully well resolved filmically. At any rate, it's a valorous attempt.
