Synopsis [spoilers]: Eddie wins a coin on a bet and his parents scold him -- gambling is bad, they assure him. Herman states that Eddie will never gamble again and Eddie challenges him on that -- "Wanna bet?" -- Herman is willing to take it, to Lily's stark disapproval. [Credits...] Herman has decided to give Eddie a lesson: he steals Eddie's savings and places a bet on a probable loser on the horse track; Grandpa suggests Lily should be the one to choose the horse, since she is the one with the know-how of picking a loser -- after all, she married one. The betting place's front is a laundry house. Grandpa is determined to sabotage Herman's radical approach to education and psychically influences the race to make Herman's horse win. They repeat the experience the following day and score a new win. The folks at the laundry/gambling joint are amazed at Herman's successes and decide to use his ability for their own profit. With the assistance of a cute blonde with car troubles, they get Herman to drive to the bandits' house; he is persuaded to choose a horse and then is kept as a prisoner until the race finishes. The horse loses and Herman escapes through the window, but it's a high-story apartment and he prevents his fall by grabbing on a pole. The bad guys start shooting at him when Grandpa arrives as a bat; he gives Herman an anti-gravity pill and distracts the criminals until Herman has safely reached the ground.
