English Title: The Law
Synopsis: A man returns to his village and finds the woman he loves married to his father.
Appraisal: The storytelling here is reduced to its bare essentials and it is all the more efficient because of that. The actors say their lines in a simple way, without much in the way of acting. It is all very direct, and yet it never looks false. The film tells a story of repression, and it is not very difficult to predict how it will end. Perhaps it is not a great film, but in its honest simplicity it rises above much of the ubiquitous overbudgeted crap that comes from Hollywood.
