The Tramp (1915)

Synopsis: A wandering bum saves a farmer's daughter from hoodlums, and employs himself as a worker in her farm.
Appraisal: Short comedy that, although its gags are not terribly original, has a consistent story with beginning, middle and end, and maintains a good level throughout. Its main asset is its bittersweet quality, achieving very touching moments by the end of the film. The main actor brilliantly conveys, through face and body, that funny-sad combination.
