Herbie Rides Again (1974)

A construction magnate wants to build a skyscraper on a site in which an old lady's house stands. She refuses to sell her property. A sympathetic woman who lives near her and a nephew of the magnate help the old lady. The old lady's car, which is endowed with thought, self-command, and gravity-defying powers, helps too.

Less dull than the first movie, possibly because the special effects technology was more advanced in 1974 than it was in 1968. It is still a below-par entertainment, in my opinion, and the concept of a humanized machine is not my idea of healthy. The plot was reused by a recent Brazilian left-wing movie (this is where Brazilian left-wing movies take their inspiration from: old American fluff). There were no car antics in the Brazilian movie (just my educated guess, since I have not seen it), but the protagonist is also an old lady. The difference is that the Brazilian actress abused plastic surgery and looks awful, whereas the American one looks splendidly natural and naturally splendid.
